![]() A Win for First Ascent Cyanosis
It was to be a duel between two strong compiled Cyanosis teams... and some other strong usual suspects... and what a match it turned out to be...
120km Adventure Race 13-14 August 2011
Verlorenkloof, Mpumalanga. The two Cyanosis teams were represented by First Ascent Cyanosis : Ryno Griesel, Nathan Thompson, Christiaan Greyling and Landie Visser and the other Salomon Cyanosis team comprised of : Clinton Mackintosh, Alex Pope, Philip Van der Leeuw and Jane Swarbreck. The pressure was put on as early as race briefing when the two Cyanosis teams and the well known Red Ants were the three teams issued with live tracking systems to be tested by the organisers for the first time.
The ability for followers at home to be part of the action as it unfolded turned out to be huge success and a definite growing factor for the sport in future that saw these three teams navigating through a 120km course including fast running, mountain biking, paddling on dam en river as well as an abseil down a waterfall at night. It was a titanic battle, seeing the three teams juggling the top three positions and changing the lead continuously, but First Ascent Cyanosis managed to take the win in 11 hours with Red Ants, and Salomon Cyanosis following a close second and third respectively.
Hats off to the team of Kinetic, for once again, putting on a showcase AR to the highest standard.
